Collaboration with Saba Barlas

In this work, the production process was intentionally aligned with the emotional effect intended to be created in the viewer. The desired feeling conveyed by the piece is that of a comforting escape — one that envelops, isolates, and offers a sense of tranquility. Both the method of production and the resulting form were shaped according to this conceptual framework.

To evoke a sense of mental purification in the maker as well, a repetitive and monotonous production technique was chosen. Using 450 meters of transparent plastic tubing and 3,500 cable ties, a secondary overhead structure was woven within the exhibition space.

This form was designed to surround viewers and separate them from the main space.

The undulating shape of the form subtly divides the people gathered beneath it, allowing them to create their own individual spaces. The choice of transparent plastic tubing as the primary material allows those underneath to maintain partial visual contact with the outside, fostering a sense of safety. Additionally, the protruding ends of the cable ties deliberately left untrimmed — serve as visual references to the repetitive motions of the production process.
